Nobody ever says, "what can I do to temporarily change myself for the better". We all want to make changes that last. No more following diets that give quick changes that quickly return us to our normal state. No more starving. No more countless hours on a treadmill. How can we do that?
People spend hours and hours a week on a treadmill or elliptical only to be disappointed and exhausted day after day, week after week, and month after month with little to no progress. When they do gain a little ground, it's lost again when the countless hours of cardio come to an end. Let's talk about the solution.
We have all at some point done something drastic in search of a change to our body. When we get crazy, our bodies adapt and a caloric deficit is no longer effective. This is called metabolic adaptation. It's not a good place to be. Let's talk about 3 steps to getting out the hole and on the right track and start making progress the right way.
Tip #1 - Metabolic Restoration
In this phase, our goal is reach a stable metabolism. This is also called metabolic priming. We find what our body would consider "maintenance". We get to a place where we our hormones are stable and our energy levels are high. The goal is always to feel great and move well.
That's the plan right, to LIVE FOR MORE!!!
Tip #2 - Primed and Ready. Be consistent
This is where we focus on workouts and on movements. It's important to hit your macro targets daily. Give your body a chance to recover from the up and down lifestyle. During this phase, you have abundant energy. You "feel" like getting up and moving. You "feel" like getting your workouts done. You're willing and able to get those 10k steps per day. Be consistent!! Now your body is primed and ready for the

Tip #3 - Fat Loss Acceleration
Because your body is primed and stable, it will respond accordingly to a calorie defecit/surplus, depending on whether your goals are to lose weight or gain muscle.
No one enjoys dieting for long periods of time. I sure don't. At this point, the body has no choice but to respond to the change. It will adapt. You set a target ( time, weight, inches, etc), reach the goal, and go back to maintenance. Rinse, cycle, repeat. Let the results stack up over time.
Lifestyle Habits and Daily Choices Keep the Results
You've put in the work. You've made progress. People sometimes feel deprived or defeated that they have to "go back" to their old ways or lifelong nutritional habits. Do you though??
We were meant to move well, enjoy life, go on adventures. Sitting on a couch or binge watching Netflix is not living. I challenge you (along with myself) to continually make progress. Move forward. You got this!!
