Take what you have, with where you are, and commit TODAY

So many things in life are intimidating. As a general rule, it's somewhat scary to start something new or walk into the unknown. We don't always have to figure out all the details before we can begin something new. If you're in the habit of that, think of all you are missing out on. You don't have to understand EVERYTHING. Just start. Life is an adventure. Live it to the fullest.

It's a new year. Call it tradition, call it opportunity, call it human nature, a New Year's Resolution is common among many of us, including me. It's a fresh start. It's a chance to start anew. Don't consider it cliche, silly, or traditional. Check out 2 Corinthians 5:17, "This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!"

I want to talk about 2 things that can involve a new start. Both require commitment on our part, and both have some potentially intimidating factors. These 2 things are: a new fitness/health journey and a new relationship with a good Father who loves us and wants us to live a life to the fullest.

Starting a new Fitness/Health journey

You bought the outfits, you bought the shoes, and now it's time to act. The fun part begins right. Put the nervousness aside, put fear in its place. We all want to be better, do better. In this case, you're choosing to be healthier and to have a better quality of life. Maybe you're dealing with health conditions, being overweight, or you have an ever-changing mood and feel like life is a roller coaster ride. Commit to change. Form a plan. Move. Don't let fear of the unknown stop you in your tracks.

You DO NOT have to have all the details figured out. You don't have to obtain an expert level of physiology to start working out. You don't need a nutritional degree to make better choices in the kitchen. It's ok to not understand everything before you start. Just start.

Go to the gym. Find a routine. Make better choices with food. Drink water. Move your body. These things are what's important. These things result in progress. Learn as you go. It's a journey.

Starting the most important Relationship you will ever have

I'm talking about Jesus. We're all created with one specific purpose in this life. That purpose is to know and to love Jesus. We were all created by God and He wants to know YOU!

Starting a relationship with Jesus is even easier and much more rewarding than your fitness journey. One mistake commonly made is people feel they must clean up their lives first, fix all of our messes so we can come to the cross. There has never been anything further from the truth. We don't stop sinning or change who we are so that we can belong to Him. We come to Him and accept His love for us. We see His goodness. We receive His grace. BECAUSE of that Love, we choose to change. We then choose to love. 1 John 4:19 says, "We love because he first loved us".

This is the point for both topics: We don't figure everything out, learn all we can, change ourselves, THEN commit.

Jesus meets us where we are, in the mess we're in. HE CAME DOWN! He chooses you.

Take what have, with where you are, and commit to changing your health and fitness. Don't buy all the stuff, learn all the pro tips, expect perfection. Progress is progress.
