"Every word we speak can either be a brick to build or a bulldozer to destroy". Joyce Meyer quoted this and it is so true in more ways than one. It is certainly true in our daily conversations with family, friends, or co-workers. In another sense, every decision we make on a daily basis with our health, eating habits, and physical activity also either build up or tear down our bodies and quality of life.
Physical Activity: To Do or Not To Do
Sitting on the couch always sounds nice. It's easy. What about going for a walk in the park or a nature trail. One is promoting health, blood flow, cardiovascular benefits, chemical reactions that result in a better mood, brain function, creativity, and so much more.
One Builds Up, the other Tears Down.
With 4 daughters, a work schedule, kids activities, and being active in our church, it's easy to run out of time. Some days, it's hard to find time to prepare a meal and cook. If I'm being honest, if it weren't for my wife and the sacrifice and effort she puts into our family, we would probably rarely eat a healthy sit down meal. Eating out is almost inevitable. Eating out EVERY day, however, probably not a good idea.
To Eat Out or Dine at Home
I'm definitely an advocate of flexible dieting. I believe everyone can and should enjoy great food. I love to eat.
We can all find balance with our eating habits. It's never about perfection. It's about progress with balance.
The point to be made is that good choices daily are individual bricks being laid towards a healthy lifestyle, our goals, and a better overall quality of living.
Terrible choices combined over time are Bulldozing our chances of living a long healthy life with our families and loved ones.
That's just a quick overview of how food choices and physical activity affects the progress of our health and bodies. Now let's get to to what really matters.
Bear Good Fruit
Whatever is stored up in your heart will sooner or later be expressed by your words. Think about that. The condition of our heart determines what words/actions we express. Back to the point of , we either lay a brick to build or we're a bulldozer to destroy. That applies to the way we treat others we encounter on a daily basis. That means every word we speak to our families, friends and co-workers either builds them up and tears them down.
Building Up What's Inside of You
Be careful what you look at, read about, and think about. Fill your heart with good things and you will think good thoughts, speak kind words, and bear good fruit.
Philippians 4: 8-9, "Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies." The Message.
Rise Up: Practice What We Preach
The blogs that I write are the things God is always teaching me and things I am constantly learning in my own life. Most of these things are not easy. Working out, eating decent, and definitely not showing kindness and building up the people in this world; it's HARD. Nevertheless, it is His way. His ways are above our ways. I choose His way.
Rise Up Training is founded on a principle. Train!! Do not just try.
Not just to get emails or read things that do not matter. God has called us to Rise Up and live our lives for Him. Let's Train to be who He created us to be. He loves you regardless, even in our your failures and flaws. It's because He loved me in all of mine that I live for Him and can't help but love Him in return. " We love because He first loved us", 1 John 4:19.
